IDENTIFIKASI SIFAT FISIK DAN KIMIA TANAH UNTUK TANAMAN KARET (Hevea brasiliensis Muell. Arg.) DI KECAMATAN GELUMBANG KABUPATEN MUARA ENIM

The purposes of this research are, to evaluate soil physics and soil Chemical suitability for rubber crop. This research was done at Gelumbang Subdistrict, Muara Enim Regency, south Sumatera and the soil samples ware analyzed at Soil Chemistry, Biology, and Fertilizy Laboratories, Soil Science Departement, Agriculture Faculty, Sriwijaya University. This research was conducted fforn June to August 2005. This research used a observe survey method and used a base map with 1 : 75.000 scale, which observation location were taken based on land unit and slope steepness. The soil samples were taken based on the land unit type wich were devided into three land unit types, that were Idf 1.0 for 2814 ha, Au 1.2.1 for 917 ha, and Af 1.2.2 for 1200 ha. The result of this research showed that dominant Soil texture at observation location is loam, soil drainage are bad to good, effective depth generally still deep, soil water depth are very shallow for low lands type, soil acid are acid to very acid around 4,12 - 4,89, nitrogen total contents are low until medium around 0,13 - 0,48 %, P2O5 availability are very low until high around 44>55 pg g', K2O availability are low until medium around 0*19 - 0,38 Cmol (+) Kg ', then soil CEC (Cation Exchange Capacity) are low until medium around 12,05-22,62 Cmol (+) Kg'1. In general, the actual land suitability was S2funi, $302 for Idf 1.0 land type, S2rifin2, S3H2 for Au 1.2.1 land type, and 82^1,2 Af 1.2.2 land type. To overcome some constrain factors in the covered areas, is needed some recomendations of management at research area by giving some input, which are fertilizer, Iime, organic matter, and making of drainage channel.
