UJI DAYA HAMBAT DAN DAYA BUNUH KOMBINASI EKSTRAK DAUN PEPAYA DAN BAWANG PUTIH (STUDI IN VITRO PADA Candida albicans)

Nurmilasari, Anita - Personal Name;

Candida albicans infection in the oral cavity causes oral candidiasis with high prevalence in children, adults, and in people with systemic diseases. Since using long term antifungal drugs as a therapy for oral candidiasis can precipitate side effects, alternative therapies are needed therefore herbal medicines are used. One of the example is using papaya leaves and garlic combination. The purpose of this study was to determine the minimum inhibition and fungicidal concentration of the extracted papaya leaves and garlic combination in vitro with Candida albicans. A laboratory experimental study with a post-test control group design was established. The minimum inhibitory was tested using Kirby-bauer method and the minimum fungicidal concentration was tested with agar dilution method. The ratio of each extract in each concentration is 1: 1 which made into five concentrations; 5%, 10%, 15%, 20% and 25%. The results of this study showed that the extracted of papaya leaves and garlic combination with a concentration of 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, and 25% could not inhibit and kill Candida albicans colonies. The conclusion in this study is the extracted of papaya leaves and garlic combination with ratio 1: 1 has no minimum inhibition and fungicidal activity against Candida albicans.
