The aim of this research is to determine the effect of different land cover and peat fires to changes in Chemical characteristics of the peat soil. The determination of the observation block was based on types of land cover and land conditions. The types of land cover are natural peatlands as gelam forest, planted blocks 0, 1, 2 and 3 year (denoted as TBM-0, TBM-1, TBM-2 and TBM-3) and producing plant (TM-1), while the land conditions are bumt and unbumt peatlands. The data obtained were statistically analyzed by general linier model use completely randomized design factorial. Variables observed in this study are ash content, pH, organic carbon and total nitrogen of peat soil. The results show that the different land cover has significantly to the ash content, pH and organic carbon but has not significantly to total nitrogen. The peat fires has significantly to ash content but has not significantly to the other variables. The interaction between the different land cover and the peat fires has significantly to organic carbon and has not significantly to the other variables.
