KARAKTERISTIK PASIEN LUKA BAKAR DI RSUP DR. MOHAMMAD HOESIN PALEMBANG PERIODE 2019-2021

Background. Burn injury is trauma to the skin or other tissues caused by high temperatures, radiation, electricity, or chemicals. Burn injury is influenced by age and gender which is associated with the cause of burns. The purpose of this study is to determine the characteristics of burn patients at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang 2019-2021 period. Methods. This study is a descriptive observational study with a cross sectional design. The data used were secondary data from the medical records of burn patients at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results. This study reports that burn patients at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang in 2019-2021 had the highest distribution in the age group of 19 – 60 years (62,9%), male (80.8%), and unemployed (34.04%). The most common cause of burns in this study was fire (52.1%) with the most common burned body parts being the shoulders and arms (77.6%), the depth of injury was mid-dermal (79,8%), and the extent of burns was ≤10% (28,7%). The incidence of inhalation injury in this study was 15.96%. The mortality rate in this study was 23.4%. Conclusion. In this study, most cases of burns were found in adults (19-60 years), male, and unemployed. Most burns are caused by fire that injured the shoulder and arms with a depth of mid-dermal tissue damage and burned area of ≤10%. Most cases are not accompanied by inhalation injury and have normal outcomes. Keywords. Burns, sociodemography, causes, body part, depth, extent, inhalation injury, outcome.
