Indonesia as a maritime country has potential defense threats from outside. This makes Indonesia collaborate with countries with strong defense system such as South Korea to help improve Indonesia’s defense system. the purpose of this research is to analyze the implementation of cooperation carried out by Indonesia and South Korea in the Republic of Korea Republic of Indonesia Joint Statement for Prosperity and Peace and then continued with the MoU regarding maritime security. The theoretical framework in this thesis is the effectiveness of the international regime. Research was done through literature study. This thesis uses qualitative methods and the data source comes from secondary data sources. From the result of the analysis using the theory of international regime effectiveness, it can be concluded that cooperation in the field of maritime defense between Indonesia and South Korea has had a positive impact on Indonesia seen from increasing maritime security capacity, the establishment of exchange of information regarding maritime areas between Indonesia and South Korea and the transfer of submarine technology.
