PERSEPSI MAHASISWA FAKULTAS KEDOKTERAN UNIVERSITAS SRIWIJAYA TENTANG KARAKTERISTIK DOSEN YANG IDEAL
Background: Lecturers are one of the parties who determine the success or failure of the learning process. Learning at the Faculty of Medicine is currently more student-centered, but lecturers still have an important role in the overall educational process and facilitate the learning process with effective teaching strategies. Good educators have a greater effect on improving achievement. This research aims to determine the perceptions of students at the Faculty of Medicine, Sriwijaya University, on the characteristics of ideal lecturers. Method: This research used a descriptive observational study with a cross-sectional design. Data collection was conducted using a questionnaire distributed to students of the Faculty of Medicine at Sriwijaya University, including the Study Programs of Medical Education, Medical Profession, Dentistry, Dental Profession, Nursing Science, and Nursing Profession. The data were processed using SPSS V27. Results: There were 953 respondents in this research. The results indicate that among the students of the Faculty of Medicine Sriwijaya University, the characteristics with the highest percentage on the 5 and 4 Likert scale are "honest, moral, and ethical” (domain human/H5) and "has a sound knowledge of the subject" (domain physician/P1), each obtaining a percentage of 97.0%. "Has good communication skills, such as conveys ideas and concern clearly to patients, relatives, colleagues and students, listens well" (domain human/H1) obtained 95.7%, "appreciates cultures and different cultural backgrounds" (domain human/H7) obtained 94.8%, and "enthusiastic and has passion to teach, enjoys teaching" (domain teacher/T1) obtained 94.7%. Conclusion: "Honest, moral, and ethical" (domain human/H5) was the main characteristic of ideal lecturers, according to students at the Faculty of Medicine, Sriwijaya University.
