ANALISIS METABOLIT DAN EFEKTIVITAS ANTIPOLUTAN PENCEMARAN UDARA DARI EKSTRAK DAUN LIDAH MERTUA (Sansevieria trifasciata Hort. ex Prain var. Laurentii.)
Air pollution is a problem that causes adverse effects on the environment and health. Air pollution caused by toxic gases such as carbon monoxide (CO) and carbon dioxide (CO2) has become a global concern. To reduce this pollution, plants can be utilized. Mother-in-law's tongue, commonly called Sansevieria trifasciata Hort. ex.Prain. var. Laurentii has a high ability to absorb air pollutants. The study aims to determine the abundance and dominant metabolite compounds contained in mother-in-law's tongue (S. trifasciata Laurentii.) using the GC-MS (Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry) instrument and to see the effectiveness of mother-in-law's tongue ethanol extract in absorbing air pollutants as an effort to reduce air pollution pollutants CO dan CO2 in mitigating climate change and protecting public health. Based on the GC-MS analysis, the results of metabolites were obtained which were marked by differences in the types and abundance of compounds detected. There are 29 peaks in the chromatogram with 8 of them being dominant compounds including 5-Mercaptotetrazole (1.95%), Cyclohexanone, 3-hydroxy (2.85%), 4H-Pyran-4-one, 2,3-dihydro-3,5-dihydroxy-6-methyl (21.85%), 4-Methyl itaconate (2.37%), 5-Hydroxymethylfurfural (27.32%), 3-Deoxy-d-mannoic lactone (22.54%), n-Hexadecanoic acid (2.04%), and Phytol (4.94%) which have the ability as antipollutants and for the health sector. Based on its chemical properties from 100% of the total abundance of compounds, there are 93.07% of compounds that have the potential to absorb pollutants. The percentage of pollutant absorption effectiveness in every 1 hour is CO of 38.23% and CO2 of 30.09%. The experimental results of the study prove that the solidified ethanol extract of S. trifasciata as an absorption medium is quite effective in absorbing CO and CO2 pollutants.
