DIPLOMASI EKONOMI INDONESIA DALAM RANTAI PERTAMBAHAN NILAI GLOBAL PRODUK TEKSTIL KE PASAR UNI EMIRAT ARAB

This research aims to explore Indonesia's government efforts in conducting trade diplomacy within the global value chain of textile products to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) market. A qualitative research method was used with data collection techniques through literature review, analyzing journals, books, news, and relevant reports. The findings indicate that, as an ASEAN member, Indonesia implemented the AFTA policy to reduce intra-regional tariffs through CEPT. However, being a non-TPP member, Indonesia faces tough competition with TPP countries like Vietnam. To address declining trade value in traditional markets, the Indonesian government is diversifying markets and implementing GVC strategies and vertical integration to enhance textile industry competitiveness. Nonetheless, challenges arise from high imports of raw materials from China, affecting production efficiency and quality. As a critical sector in the economy and labor force, the textile industry must address issues of industrial integration, import dependency, and supportive infrastructure. Nonetheless, by adopting well-crafted trade diplomacy strategies, particularly with UAE, Iran, and Egypt, and with the IUAE-CEPA agreement opening greater market opportunities and preferential tariff access, Indonesia has the potential to strengthen its position in international trade, particularly in the Middle East region. Government efforts, including regulatory reforms to enhance economic competitiveness and support for domestic industries, are essential in overcoming challenges such as illegal imports and raw material import reliance to sustain the textile and textile product industry in Indonesia.
