Background: Riskesdas in 2018 stated that the proportion of dental and oral problems in Indonesia was 57.6%. The level of dental and oral health problems of children with special needs is higher than normal children, reaching 83.92%. One group of children with special needs is deaf children. Ignoring oral health behavior is generally motivated by limited knowledge about proper oral health maintenance efforts. Ways to improve oral health knowledge can be done by counseling about oral health. Counseling using image media such as leaflets is considered effective in increasing knowledge in deaf children. Objective: To determine the effect of oral health counseling on children's knowledge before and after being given leaflet media counseling on oral health in SLB Karya Ibu Palembang children. Methods: This type of research is a pseudo experiment with one group pretest-posttest design. The research subjects were 30 deaf children aged 6-12 years at SLB Karya Ibu Palembang. Knowledge was assessed using questionnaire administered before and after the education session. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test.
