ABSTRACT The family is the closest person who has an important role in determining the cognitive development of children at pre-school age. Pre-school age is the golden age for children to develop. In a family, a mother as the closest person to a child has the most important role in the process of cognitive development of children. Therefore, a study was carried out with the research title The Role of Parents in Cognitive Development of Pre-School Children in Environment II Pasar Muara Beliti using qualitative research methods. In the process of collecting data using the method of observation, interviews and documentation in order to find out how the role of parents in the cognitive development of pre-school aged children. Pre-school age children are children who really need the role of parents in every process of their development. The results of the research that has been carried out are that the role of parents is very large in the child's development process, starting from the parenting style applied by parents to the learning facilities provided by parents to children, because every parenting style and facilities that parents provide to support children's development greatly have an influence great impact on children's cognitive development. As a form of children's cognitive development, when parents provide learning facilities in the form of alphabet posters, books, pencils or visual media through watching youtube videos, it will greatly affect children's cognitive development because by seeing and getting good direction from parents, children will be able to easily understand what children see and hear.
