PERAN UNHCR DALAM MENGATASI PENGUNGSI ROHINGYA DI INDONESIA
United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees or UNHCR is based in Geneva, Switzerland. This agency was founded on December I 4 I 950, with the aim of protecting and providing assistance to refugees based on the request of a government or the United Nations or UN and then to accompany these refugees in the process of moving their residence to a new place. At the end of 20 I 6, the President of the Republic of Indonesia signed a Presidential Regulation on Handling Refugees from Abroad. Rohingya refugees are a Muslim minority group from Rakhine State in Myanmar who have long experienced discrimination, persecution and violence. One area in Indonesia that is often a landing place for Rohingya refugees is Aceh. This research aims to analyze the role of UNHCR in dealing with the large number of Rohingya refugees, examine the living conditions of Rohingya refugees in Aceh. Analyze the response of the government and related organizations to Rohingya refugees and provide policy recommendations that can improve the conditions of Rohingya refugees in Aceh province, as well as overcome the social impacts and conflicts caused by the arrival of the Rohingya Ethnic to Aceh, using a descriptive qualitative research design that explains, explains, describes and answers research questions in detail by relying on researchers as the main research instrument (Moleong, 2014).
