F, An. A, dan An. M) mengalami ansietas hospitalisasi menunjukkan tingkat ansietas berat (FAS Skor 4). MOHAMMAD HOESIN HOSPITAL, PALEMBANG xiv + 64 pages + 2 tables + 18 appendices ABSTRACT Background: Hospitalization is a situational crisis that triggers anxiety in children due to the uncertainty of medical conditions and invasive procedures. Unresolved anxiety can disrupt psychological stability, delay healing, and trigger the release of stress hormones. One effective nonpharmacological therapy for reducing anxiety is slow deep breathing combined with five-finger grip relaxation therapy. Objective: To describe the results of pediatric nursing practice that focuses on nursing care for children with hospitalization anxiety and in accordance with evidence-based learning reviews. Method: The method used is a descriptive case study approach based on the management of three patients experiencing hospitalization anxiety. Results: The application of relaxation therapy helps patients experience better management (An. F, An. A, and An. M) experienced hospitalization anxiety showing a severe level of anxiety (face anxiety scale score 4). The same nursing diagnosis appeared in three patients, namely anxiety related to hospitalization (situational crisis). The therapy given was slow deep breathing combined with five-finger grip relaxation. This intervention was carried out by taking a deep breath into the abdomen while grasping the fingers alternately. Therapy was given for consecutive days with an intensity of minutes per implementation. The evaluation results showed a significant decrease in the level of anxiety in 3 patients under management from a face anxiety scale score of 4 to 0. Discussion: Slow deep breathing combined with five-finger grasping relaxation was proven to be able to control anxiety effectively. The mechanism of action involves stimulating the parasympathetic nervous system through slow deep breathing and releasing endorphins through stimulation of the five-finger grasp relaxation reflex points, which collectively reduce physical and emotional tension caused by hospitalization anxiety. Discussion: Based on analysis of managed cases, slow deep breathing therapy combined with five-finger grasp relaxation has been proven effective and can be a nonpharmacological complementary therapy to help reduce hospitalization anxiety in children.
