PENGARUH PEER GROUP TERHADAP PENGETAHUAN DAN SIKAP TENTANG GIZI SEIMBANG PADA REMAJA
Adolescents in Indonesia face nutritional problems such as stunting, wasting, and overweight, in South Sumatra Province in 2023 it was found to have nutritional problems. The high nutritional problems in adolescents need getting attention, because if it is ignored, it will have an impact on the health and quality of life of adolescents in the future. The implementation of balanced nutrition for adolescents become still a major challenge, often influenced by low knowledge and attitudes. The development of adolescents the social factors especially interactions with peers, have a significant influence. One effective approach to improving knowledge and attitudes in adolescents is through peer groups. This study aims to determine the influence of peer groups on knowledge and attitudes about balanced nutrition in adolescents. This study used a Pre-Experimental design with One Group Pretest-Posttest. Respondents consisted of 34 students of SMP Negeri 1 Indralaya who were taken by stratified random sampling. Bivariate test data analysis to determine differences in levels of knowledge and attitudes between before and after health education through peer groups. Knowledge analysis by the Marginal Homogeneity test showed that a significant difference with a p value of 0.001. Attitude analysis used McNemar showed a significant difference with a P value of 0.001. Health education through peer groups significantly increased knowledge and attitudes about balanced nutrition in adolescents. The results of this study can be a recommendation for health workers to implement interactive education through peer groups in an effort to improve knowledge and attitudes about balanced nutrition in adolescents.
