violence is a problem that continues to increase every year, based on the World Health Organization in 2024 that around 120 million adolescent girls have become victims of sexual violence, as for the impact of uncontrolled sexual behavior, namely the occurrence of unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections. This study aims to analyze the influence of the role of peers and the role of parents on the perception of controlling sexual behavior in adolescents in Palembang City. This study used a cross-sectional design with cluster random sampling method, involving 313 students in Palembang City as samples. Data analysis was conducted univariate and bivariate, where bivariate analysis used correlation test. The results showed that 172 respondents were female (55.5%), 123 respondents (39.3%) were from class XII high school while the least respondents were in class X high school as many as 82 respondents (26.2%) and 110 respondents (35.1%) were 17 years old while the least respondents were 14 years old as many as 9 respondents (2.9%). As many as 256 respondents (82.4%) live with parents or family, and as many as 175 respondents (55.9%) have had socialization experiences on sexual violence prevention. The role of peers showed a positive influence on the perception of sexual behavior control (p = 0.000; r = 0.476), where the greater the role of peers, the better the perception of adolescent sexual behavior control. Similarly, the role of parents also had a positive effect (p = 0.000; r = 0.203) where the greater the role of parents, the better the perception of adolescent sexual behavior control with a greater role of parents increasing the perception of sexual behavior control. Awareness of the importance of the role of peers and parents is needed in improving the perception of sexual behavior control in adolescents. Therefore, efforts are needed to encourage peers and parents to be more active in providing support, education, and positive guidance to help adolescents make wise decisions and avoid the risk of sexual violence.
