STUDI LAJU PERTUMBUHAN KEPITING BAKAU (SCYLLA PARAMAMOSAIN) PADA SALINITAS DAN PAKAN ALAMI BERBEDA
The mud crab (Scylla paramamosain), one of the high-value fishery commodities, holds great potential for aquaculture development. This study aimed to evaluate the survival rate and compare the growth rate and carapace width of male and female mud crabs under different salinity levels and types of natural feed. The 21 day experiment was conducted at the Marine Bioecology Laboratory, Sriwijaya University, using an apartment system for crab maintenance, applying four salinity levels (10, 14, 18, and 22 ppt) and two types of natural feed (trash fish and green mussels). The results showed that salinity affected the growth and survival of the crabs, with the highest survival rate (100%) observed at 10 and 14 ppt. Furthermore, the highest absolute and specific growth rates were recorded at 10 ppt with green mussel feed. ANOVA testing confirmed significant differences among treatments (p < 0.05). Therefore, the combination of low salinity (10 ppt) and green mussel feed is considered optimal for supporting the growth and survival of mud crabs, particularly in female individuals.
