Amanda, Oktarina - Personal Name;

Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) is an acute infection of one or more parts of the respiratory tract that extends from the nose to the alveoli in the lungs. Babies or toddlers who do not receive exclusive breast milk can be a risk factor for ARI. In Prabumulih City itself, exclusive breastfeeding in 2022 was 62.1 and ARI will be the number 1 most common disease in 2023. The aim of this study was to analyze the relationship between maternal education, maternal knowledge, maternal occupation and maternal age on exclusive breastfeeding as well as the relationship between exclusive breastfeeding and the incidence of ISPA in toddlers aged 6-59 months in the working area of the Prabumulih City Market Community Health Center. This research is quantitative research with a cross sectional approach. Sampling used probability sampling using proportional random sampling technique with a sample size of 80 respondents. The results of the chi square test showed that maternal knowledge (p=0.003) and maternal age (p=0.004) had a relationship with exclusive breastfeeding. Mothers with poor knowledge have a 2.029 times higher risk of not providing exclusive breastfeeding and mothers aged 35 years have a 1.990 times higher risk of not providing exclusive breastfeeding. Meanwhile, maternal education (p=0.178) and maternal employment (p=1.000) had no relationship with exclusive breastfeeding. There is a relationship between exclusive breastfeeding and the incidence of ARI (p=0.006) where mothers who do not provide exclusive breastfeeding have a 2.444 times higher risk of their toddlers experiencing ARI. The conclusion of this research is that maternal knowledge and maternal age influence exclusive breastfeeding, and exclusive breastfeeding influences the incidence of ARI in toddlers. So it is hoped that the Prabumulih City Market Health Center can provide health promotion regarding the importance of exclusive breastfeeding as a prevention of ARI. Keywords: exclusive breastfeeding, maternal knowledge, maternal age, ARI Bibliography: 76 (2016-2023)
