ASUHAN KEPERAWATAN PADA PASIEN GANGGUAN PERSEPSI SENSORI: HALUSINASI PENDENGARAN DENGAN TERAPI OKUPASI HANDICRAFT DI RS DR. ERNALDI BAHAR PROVINSI SUMATERA SELATAN

Larasati, Annisa - Personal Name;

Background: The high prevalence of schizophrenia is a serious health problem in Indonesia, especially with typical symptoms in the form of auditory hallucinations. Auditory hallucinations are a condition when an individual perceives sound stimuli that are not actually there. Non-pharmacological management of auditory hallucinations can be done through occupational therapy, namely handicraftt by stringing beads which is an activity to train fine motor skills and concentration. Objective: Applying psychiatric nursing care and implementing handicraft occupational therapy in patients with auditory hallucinations at Ernaldi Bahar Hospital, South Sumatra Province. Method: Using a qualitative descriptive method with a case study approach to 3 clients with sensory perception disorders: auditory hallucinations who were given handicraft occupational therapy. Results: After providing generalist therapy in the form of implementation strategies 1–4 and handicraft occupational therapy, the three clients experienced a decrease in scores on the Auditory Hallucination Rating Scale (AHRS) from moderate to mild. Discussion: Handicraft occupational therapy can help clients improve focus, train concentration, and strengthen self-control in dealing with hallucinatory stimuli. The body's response to this activity is increased focus, relaxation, and decreased limbic system overactivity, which is associated with the emergence of hallucinatory symptoms. Conclusion: Handicraft occupational therapy is effective in helping clients reduce the frequency, duration, and intensity of auditory hallucinations.
