Septinawati, Septinawati - Personal Name;

Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disease characterized by hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia. However, this is often not realized by various communities due to lack of information and sufficient knowledge and self-care and compliance to detect early the risk of complications and prevention and 4 improve the quality of life of DM sufferers so that complications do not occur, especially complications caused by hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of animated video media on knowledge of hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia in DM sufferers. The formulation of the problem in this study is the effect of animated video media on knowledge of hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia in DM patients. This type of research uses a pre-experimental design with pre-test and post-test methods without a control group. The method used to provide information, one of which is the use of animated video media. The intervention group was observed before the intervention (pre-test), then observed after the intervention (post-test) and sampling was carried out using the stratified random sampling technique. Data were collected using a 20-question questionnaire created by the researcher himself and tested for validity and reliability. The population of this study was 95 respondents, using one intervention group in this study. The analysis in this study used the Wilcoxon signed rank test with a significant value of α = 5% (0.05) to see the effect of significant variables or not. The results of this study indicate that animated videos have an effect on knowledge of hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia in DM patients with a significant value of ρ = 0.000 (≤0.05). The conclusion in this study is that animated video media has been proven to have a significant effect in increasing DM knowledge about hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia.
