STRATEGI BERTAHAN HIDUP PENJAHIT PAKAIAN DI BAWAH JEMBATAN AMPERA (Studi Kasus Kawasan 10 Ulu Kota Palembang)

The problems raised in this study are the socio-economic conditions of tailors in order to survive and the survival strategies of tailors under the Ampera bridge in the 10 Ulu area of Palembang City. This research uses descriptive qualitative research methods with 17 informants, namely 10 main informants and 7 supporting informants with data collection techniques including participatory observation, in-depth interviews and documentation. In this study, researchers used the concept of socio-economic conditions from Melly G Tan and the concept of survival strategies from Edi Suharno, the results of this study are in the form of socio-economic conditions of tailors in order to survive who have a fairly low educational background which results in the income they get is relatively small and the income is uncertain and can change every day. This is also based on the informant's work as a tailor which is not a formal job but an informal job that does not guarantee their family's life in the future. The socio-economic conditions of the tailors are such, so a survival strategy is made that is expected to meet the needs of the tailor's family. The survival strategies used in this study are active strategies, passive strategies and network strategies. These three strategies were not fully used by each informant. However, informants who use all three can certainly maintain the economic stability of their families by utilizing their potential, managing and saving expenses by working with each other and utilizing network relations by working on the side which also expands relations between fellow humans.
