ANALISIS PRAKTIK CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY PT FREEPORT INDONESIA DI KOTA TIMIKA
ABSTRACT Multinational Companies (MNCs) play an important role in international relations because they not only drive global economic growth through investment and job creation, but also influence the foreign policy and diplomacy of the countries in which they operate. One example is Freeport-McMoRan, a US public company that is the world's largest copper producer and operates in Indonesia through PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI). In Papua, PTFI makes a significant contribution to the national economy through taxes, royalties, and job creation. In addition, PTFI also implements Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs that focus on education, health, infrastructure, and community economic empowerment through YPMAK. This confirms the dual role of MNCs as global economic actors as well as social agents, although they still face challenges in balancing business interests with social and environmental impacts. PTFI's CSR concept is based on the Triple Bottom Line (TBL) of profit, people, and planet. In terms of profit, PTFI creates jobs, makes fiscal contributions, and strengthens MSMEs through local procurement policies and the Papuan Business Village program. On the people aspect, PTFI focuses on building community capacity through scholarship programs for thousands of Papuan children, health services, and skills training. From a planetary perspective, PTFI conducts land reclamation, waste management, and biodiversity protection; by the end of 2023, approximately 570 hectares have been reclaimed from the target of 920 hectares. Thus, PTFI's CSR practices in Timika demonstrate MNC's real contribution in supporting sustainable development through the application of the Triple Bottom Line principle. Keywords: PTFI, MNCs, CSR.
