PENGARUH FAKTOR RISIKO TERHADAP RESPON KEMOTERAPI KARSINOMA NASOFARING DI RSUP DR. M. HOESIN PALEMBANG PERIODE 2022-2023
Introduction: Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is a prevalent cancer in Southeast Asia, including Indonesia. Despite therapeutic advancements, chemotherapy responses vary, necessitating exploration of factors influencing outcomes. This study analyzes NPC patient characteristics at RSUP Dr. M. Hoesin Palembang and examines the relationship between specific risk factors and chemotherapy response. Method: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 65 NPC patients. Variables studied included age, gender, histopathological classification, cancer stage, BMI, comorbidities, and chemotherapy response. Statistical methods included bivariate (Chi-Squared test) and multivariate (logistic regression) analyses, with significance set at p < 0.05. Results: Most patients were aged 30–50 years (56.9%) and male (70.8%). WHO type II histopathology (49.2%) and stage IV A (50.8%) were the most common. Complete response (CR) to chemotherapy was observed in 33.8% of cases. Bivariate analysis identified comorbidities as significantly associated with chemotherapy response (p = 0.005). Age, gender, and cancer stage were not statistically significant. Multivariate analysis suggested trends toward significance for age (p = 0.076), stage IV A (p = 0.097), and histopathology type II (p = 0.129). Analysis: Comorbidities emerged as the sole significant predictor of chemotherapy response, likely due to their impact on patient resilience and treatment complications. Age, cancer stage, and histopathology showed trends toward significance but lacked statistical power, possibly due to sample size limitations. Discussion: The findings highlight the need to manage comorbidities to improve chemotherapy outcomes. Further studies with larger samples are essential to validate observed trends and enhance personalized therapeutic approaches for NPC patients.
