Independent Graduation is a phenomenon of voluntary resignation from participating in PKH assistance. In Palembang City itself there are 1495 KPM PKH independent graduates as program achievements and objectives in 2019-2021. This research aims to describe the independent graduation process for KPM PKH and analyze the rationality of KPM in carrying out independent graduation in Kelurahan 16 Ulu, Seberang Ulu II District, Palembang City. The method used is qualitative with data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews and documentation. The informants for this research consisted of 5 KPMs who graduated independently in Kelurahan 16 Ulu. To strengthen the data, researchers also carried out triangulation with the PKH coordinator in Palembang City and the PKH assistant in Subdistrict 16 Ulu. In analyzing this research, James S Coleman's theory of rationality was used. The research results show that the independent graduation process for KPM PKH is carried out when they have the initiative to carry out graduation which is then followed up through the Economic Data Updating Process, Proxy Mean Test, feasibility assessment, determination of KPM graduation, and post-graduation follow-up. The research results analyzed in rational choice theory are the existence of KPM PKH which aims to carry out independent graduation as actors in their rational choices. Apart from that, KPMs have resources that are used to achieve independent graduation, such as business ownership, economic improvement, and also ownership of personal items. The mentality of KPM PKH is also one of the non-material resources in carrying out independent graduation. Keywords: Independent Graduation, PKH, Beneficiary Families, Rational Choice
