PEMATANGAN OVARI IKAN PUTAK (Notopterus notopterus, Pallas 1769) DIINJEKSI DENGAN PREGNANT MARE SERUM GONADOTROPIN

ELIKA PITRIANI. Ovari Maturation of Bronze Featherback (Notopterus notopterus, Pallas 1769) Injected with Pregnant Mare Serum Gonadotropin (Sepervised by MUSLIM). The population of bronze featherback (Notopterus notopterus) in the wild has declined, if it continues to occur, it will lead to the extinction of this species. The study aims to induce the maturity of N. notopterus ovaries hormonally using pregnant mare serum gonadotropin (PMSG). The research method used a completely randomized design consisting of 4 PMSG dose treatments, namely 0 mL kg-1 (control), 1.0; 1.25, and 1.5 mL kg-1 fish, repeated 3 times for all treatment. PMSG was injected done intramuscularly only once. The body weight of N. notopterus used ranged from 50 to 55 g, and the total length ranged from 20 to 25 cm. Sampling was conducted on days 3, 6, and 9 after injection, with one fish in each treatment. Blood of fish was taken for measurement of cholesterol levels. Fish were dissected for calculation of ovi-somatic index, hepato-somatic index, fecundity, oocyte diameter, and determination of ovarian maturity level. The results showed that PMSG injection affects the development of N. notopterus ovaries. PMSG injection dose of 1.5 mL kg-1 fish was the best treatment with an ovi-somatic index of 17.29%, hepato-somatic index of 0.37%, oocyte diameter ranging from 3.1 to 4.0 mm, fecundity of 378 eggs, cholesterol levels of 180 ml L- 1 and ovarian maturity level reaching stage V (Mature). PMSG dose of 1.5 mL kg- 1 is the best dose for N. notopterus ovary maturity.
