RASIONALITAS ISTRI MENGGUGAT CERAI DI KOTA PALEMBANG
This research focuses on the background of the married life of a wife who sues her husband for divorce and the rationality in the decision to sue her husband for divorce. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with a phenomenological research strategy. This research uses James S. Coleman's Rational Choice theory. Data were obtained from 7 main informants using data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews and documentation. The results showed that in the background of their married life, the seven informants mentioned that on average they lived an unhappy home life because they felt depressed, felt always blamed, humiliated and even received violent behavior through physical. Then find a husband who has an affair or the entry of a third person in the household. Then on the economic aspect, starting from an inadequate life because the husband does not have a fixed income to a husband who is not responsible for the obligation of support. Thus, it is concluded that the rationality of the wife suing for divorce is to choose welfare so as not to be depressed if she continues to be in an unhappy marriage. Then also trying to improve their personal and financial quality to support themselves and children in the future. The choice to sue the husband for divorce is an action that can maximize the wife's quality of life to be happier physically and mentally and develop herself to maximize the needs of her life and her children without any oppressive actions.
