METABOLIT PROFILING DAN ANTIOKSIDAN BIJI BUAH PINANG (ARECA CATECHU L.)
This research has been conducted with the aim of knowing metabolite compounds, metabolite abundance through GC-MS analysis and antioxidant content with DPPH method found in areca nut seeds. GC-MS analysis data obtained were traced to compound classes and biosynthetic pathways from the total abundance of compounds to determine compounds that have potential bioactivity from areca nut seed extract samples. Metabolite profile of methanol extract of areca nut seeds has a compound abundance of 96.66% which contains 88 peaks with 63 detected compounds and 4 dominant compounds detected. Areca fruit seeds have 4 dominant compounds with greater abundance found in Arecoline. Arecoline (31.19%), Phthalic acid di(2- propylpentyl) ester (4.99%), 9-Octadecenoic acid (Z)-, methyl ester (3.51%), and Hexadecanoic acid, methyl ester (2.40%), these dominant compounds belong to the class of alkaloids, fatty acids and esters that have potential bioactivity as antioxidants, anticancer, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and antidiabetic. Antioxidant levels of methanol extract of areca nut seeds with standard antioxidant Quercetin were 247.0 ± 11.6 ppm, while for antioxidant levels with standard antioxidant ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) were 440.1 ± 51.3 ppm. It can be concluded that the dominant compound in areca nut seeds is Arecoline which is included in the class of pyridine-type alkaloids
