This study is entitled "The Development ofSilver Craft Making in Tanjung Batu District, Ogan ilir Regeney, South Sumatra (2000-2010)". The topic of the problem discussed in this study is about the development of silver craft art in Tanjung Batu District, South Sumatra from 2000 to 2010 and what factors influence the devclopment of the crafl art. The purpose of this study is to clarify information about the devclopment of silver crafl art in Tanjung Batu District from 2000 to 2010. The method used is the historical rescarch method which includes heuristics, source criticism, interpretation and historiography. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and literature studies. The resuls obtained in this study are about how the path of the development of silver craft art in Tanjung Batu District from 2000 to 2010. Then it is known that the main motive for the init ial development of silver craft art in Tanjung Batu District is due to economic problems in the area that occurred in early 2000. In terms of the impact of social aspects, the people of Tanjung Batu District who initially liked gold craft art, now prefer silver craft art. The factors that influence the devclopment of silver craft art in Tan jung Batu District are the affordable selling price of these silver craft art items which attracts many people's interest in these craft art items. And then the comfort factor where people there feel more comfortable and safer wearing items made of silver than tems made of gold when going out.
