PERENCANAAN DAN PERANCANGAN SHOPPING MALL CITY WALK DI KOTA PALEMBANG
Palembang has been experiencing rapid growth, yet its shopping centers are mostly enclosed malls, while densely populated areas such as Alang-Alang Lebar still lack adequate facilities. This condition underlies the design of the Shopping Mall City Walk as a new commercial hub and public space. The project adopts the Integrated Mall concept, creating a unified composition of open and enclosed malls connected by a City Walk with pedestrian paths and open spaces that are fully connected. The design emphasizes an attractive shopping atmosphere that provides enjoyment of social interaction through green open spaces, tropical modern facades, and efficient pedestrian circulation. The outcome consists of three main building masses with tenants of various sizes, namely the Capella Building (shopping, parking, cinema), the Regulus Building (retail), and the Arcturus Building (entertainment: restaurants, food court, supermarket, arcade). All masses are linked by pedestrian paths, open spaces, and a skywalk, with a central plaza at the middle of the site as the main interaction hub. This Shopping Mall is expected to become a modern retail landmark and contribute to supporting the local economy while strengthening social interaction in Palembang.
