KARAKTERISTIK PASIEN TRAUMA MAXILLOFACIAL DI BAGIAN BEDAH PLASTIK RSUP DR. MOHAMMAD HOESIN PALEMBANG TAHUN 2023
Background: Maxillofacial trauma is a serious type of facial injury that requires intensive care. However, systematic research on the characteristics of maxillofacial trauma patients in Palembang is still very limited. Therefore, the author conducted this study to analyze in detail the characteristics of maxillofacial trauma patients that treated at Plastic Surgery Department of RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang in 2023. Methods: This study used a descriptive observational method. Data were collected from medical records of maxillofacial trauma patients that treated at the Plastic Surgery Department of RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang in 2023. The study variables included facial area, patient age, gender, and etiology. Data were analyzed using SPSS IBM 27 with descriptive statistics to describe the distribution of these variables. Results: Based on observations from 97 patient medical records, it was found that the majority of maxillofacial trauma patients in the Plastic Surgery Department of RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang were male (73.2%), with an age range of 19-59 years (47.4%). The most common cause was traffic accidents (74.2%), and most patients arrived at the hospital within less than one day (79.4%). The most frequently affected area was the midface region (59.8%), and the most common treatment performed was ORIF (62.9%). Conclusion: This study shows that maxillofacial trauma patients treated at the Plastic Surgery Department of RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang in 2023 were predominantly male of productive age, particularly those aged 19-59 years. Traffic accidents are the primary cause of this trauma. It was also found that most patients arrived at the hospital within less than one day, and the procedure most commonly performed by the attending doctors was ORIF.
