POLA PERESEPAN OBAT ANTIHIPERTENSI DI POLIKLINIK PENYAKIT DALAM RSUP DR RIVAI ABDULLAH TAHUN 2023

Muthmainnah, Shativa Zaihan - Personal Name;

Hypertension, a growing global health issue, poses significant risks for severe complications such as cardiovascular and renal diseases. The World Health Organization (WHO) reported an increase in cases from 650 million in 1990 to 1.3 billion in 2019. In Indonesia, the prevalence is 34.1% (Riskesdas 2018), influenced by factors such as age, obesity, lifestyle, and genetics. Managing hypertension involves both pharmacological and non-pharmacological approaches. Common antihypertensive drugs include ACE inhibitors, angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs), beta-blockers, calcium channel blockers (CCBs), and diuretics. This study evaluated the prescribing patterns of antihypertensive drugs at RSUP Dr Rivai Abdullah in 2023. A descriptive cross-sectional study design was used, with retrospective data from hypertensive patients' medical records. Among the 454 patients analyzed, the majority were female (64%) and aged 18–59 years (58.5%), with type 2 diabetes mellitus as the most prevalent comorbidity (23.4%). Monotherapy primarily involved calcium channel blockers (68.3%). Dual therapy commonly combined ARBs and CCBs (78.7%), while triple therapy included ARBs, CCBs, and beta-blockers (30.6%). Quadruple therapy involved ARBs, CCBs, beta-blockers, and diuretics (44.4%). Prescription patterns were consistent between BPJS (national health insurance) and non-BPJS patients in terms of drug selection and dosage. These findings are expected to enhance the effectiveness of hypertension management and support uniform care standards in the hospital. Conclusion. The prescribing patterns of antihypertensive drugs were dominated by monotherapy and dual therapy, with most patients being female and aged 18–59 years. The consistent prescribing patterns between BPJS and non-BPJS patients reflect uniform quality of care. Keywords. Hypertension, Antihypertensive drugs, Prescribing patterns, Internal Medicine Clinic.
