DETERMINAN PERILAKU WANITA USIA SUBUR (WUS) DALAM MELAKUKAN PEMERIKSAAN IVA DI WILAYAH KERJA PUSKESMAS MAKRAYU KOTA PALEMBANG

Maharani, Azzahra - Personal Name;

Cancer of the cervix is one of the fourth most frequently diagnosed cancers and deaths due to cancer in women who are not supported by adequate early detection efforts, including Visual Inspection with Acetid Acid (VIA) examination. Palembang City is among the regions with a low percentage of early cervical cancer detection that indicates low behavior of the women in conducting VIA examination as cervical cancer screening. The purpose of this research is to identify and explain the determinants of the behavior of the Visual Inspection with Acetid Acid (VIA)examination of women of childbearing age in the work area of Puskesmas Makrayu City of Palembang. The design of this research is an analytical survey with a cross sectional approach. The sample technique was purposive sampling so 120 respondents were obtained. Data analysis using chi-square tests and double logistic regression tests. The results of this study showed that the level of knowledge (p=0,034), the support of husbands (p=0,018), and the health care support (p=0,000) had a correlation to the behavior of the VIA examination, whereas age (p=0,060), educational (p=0,757), employment (p=0,352), and attitude (p=0,431) were not correlated with the behaviour of VIA examination. Meanwhile, the most relevant variable in influencing the conduct of VIA examination in women of childbearing age was the healthcare support with a Prevalence Ratio of 4,716. Therefore, it is necessary to enhance health education activities with the involvement of health care personnel and the nearest family to encourage women to undergo VIA examinations.
