PERSENTASE PENETASAN TELUR DAN KELANGSUNGAN HIDUP IKAN KAPIAT (Barbonymus schwanenfeldii) PADA MEDIA pH BERBEDA
BELLA SHANIA. Hatching Percentage and Survival Rate of Tinfoil Barb (Barbonymus schwanenfeldii) at Different pH Media (Supervised by MOCHAMAD SYAIFUDIN). Tinfoil barb is a local fish native to Indonesia that was domesticated 14 years ago, tinfoil barb production in Indonesia currently still relies on wild catches. Efforts that can be made to preserve tinfoil barb are by cultivation, however, the quantity and quality of larvae are still very low. This study aimed to determine the best pH for the duration of hatching percentage, percentage of egg hatching, larvae survival rate, and percentage of larvae abnormality. This study used a completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 3 replications, namely P1 (pH 6 ± 0.2), P2 (pH 7 ± 0.2), P3 (pH 8 ± 0.2) and P4 (pH 9 ± 0.2). This research was conducted at the Balai Perikanan Budidaya Air Tawar (BPBAT) Jambi in September 2024. The results showed that pH 9 ± 0.2 and pH 8 ± 0.2 were the best pH for the duration of hatching (18.27 hours). The percentage of hatching at pH media 7, 8 and 9 were 73.00%, 73.66%, and 74.66%, while the best survival rate of tinfoil barb larvae was 89.98% at pH 7. The lowest larvae abnormality was found at pH 7 ± 0.2 (11.3%). Water quality during the study could support the hatching and rearing of fish larvae, namely temperature 25.5-30.3°C, dissolved oxygen 4.9-5.6 mg L-1, and ammonia 0.000-0.106 mg L-1.
