PROFIL KUALITAS FERMENTASI PAKAN SILASE DENGAN PROPORSI LIMBAH SAYURAN YANG BERBEDA
Vegetable waste from the market such as cabbage and mustard greens produce a large amount that can reach 30-40% of the volume of vegetables sold. Utilisation of cabbage, mustard and carrot waste can use silage technology. Silage technology is a method used to extend and maintain anaerobic conditions through compaction of silage. The addition of carrot waste to silage provides a source of water-soluble carbohydrates, particularly in the form of sugar. This sugar becomes an important substrate for lactic acid bacteria during the ensilage process, which produces lactic acid. This study aimed to investigate the fermentation quality profile of silage feed with different proportions of vegetable waste. This research was conducted from March to May 2025 at the Experimental Barm and Laboratory of the Animal Science Study Program, Department of Animal Technology and Industry, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. The experimental design used in this study was a Completely Randomised Design (CRD) consisting of four treatments groups and five replicates. The parameters observed included the mean, standard deviation, minimum and maximum values. The treatments observed were PO= 50% cabbage waste + 50% mustard, P1= 42,5% cabbage waste + 42,5% mustard +15% carrot waste, P2= 40% cabbage waste + 40% mustard + 20% carrot waste, P3= 37,5% cabbage waste + 37,5% mustard + 25% carrot waste. The variables observed were total acid, acidity (pH), total microbes and total lactic acid bacteria (BAL). The data obtained were analyzed using SPSS version 25.0 software including descriptive statistics such as mean, standard deviation, minimum and maximum. The results of this study showed that the mean pH values ranged from 3,84 to 4,32 with minimum values between 3,7 and 4,1 and maximum values between 3,9 and 4,5. The mean total acid content ranged from 0,023% to 0,037% wuth minimum values between 0,018% and 0,036% and maximum values between 0,027% and 0,040%. The mean total microbial counts ranged from 25,4 x 103 to 33,2 x 103 CFU/mL with minimum values between 8 x 103 and 15 x 103 CFU/mL and maximum values between 30 x 103 and 55 x 103 CFU/mL. The mean total lactid acid bacteria count ranged from 21 x 103 to 59,4 x 103 CFU/mL with minimum values between 10 x 103 and 25 x 103 CFU/mL and maximum values between 29 x 103 and 115 x 103 CFU/mL. in conclusion the fermentation quality profile of silage feed with different proportions of vegetable waste showed descriptively better values in treatment P2 (20% carrot waste). With a pH value 4,32, total acid content of 0.026%, total microbial count of 25,4 x 103 CFU/mL and total lactic acid bacteria count of 59,4 x 103 CFU/mL.
