This study discusses the role of Iran’s football diplomacy in strengthening relations within the Middle East region. Sports diplomacy is understood as a soft power strategy employed by states to build a positive image, enhance cooperation, and promote peace through sports activities. Iran utilizes football as a diplomatic instrument capable of transcending political and ideological boundaries in a conflict-prone region. This research employs a qualitative method with a literature study approach to analyze how football is used by Iran to build inter-state relations, reinforce national identity, and foster regional trust. The findings reveal that football serves as an effective medium for Iran to project an image of openness, cultural sophistication, and commitment to peace. Through participation in international competitions, Iran has successfully used sports diplomacy to expand its influence, ease tensions, and create channels for dialogue with other Middle Eastern countries. Thus, football diplomacy functions not only as an instrument of foreign policy but also as a symbol of solidarity and peace that strengthens Iran’s role in the geopolitical dynamics of the Middle East.
