Background: The percentage of pneumonia in children in Indonesia in 2021 was 31.4%. The problem often experienced by children with pneumonia is ineffective airway clearance. Chest physiotherapy is one of the non-pharmacological therapies that can be applied to overcome ineffective airway clearance. Chest physiotherapy is a sputum removal action that is carried out so that there is no accumulation of sputum which causes airway obstruction. Objective: Describes the implementation of nursing care practices and applying chest physiotherapy to children with pneumonia in overcoming the problem of inefective airway clearance. Method: Qualitative descriptive with a case study approach in three pediatric patients with pneumonia. Result: The main nursing problem that emerged in the three patients was ineffective airway clearance. Nursing interventions for ineffective airway clearance are airway management and chest physiotherapy. Conclusion: Nursing care given to the three managed patients started from assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation. The implications of the application of chest physiotherapy in children with pneumonia have an influence in overcoming the problem of ineffective airway clearance.
