PROFIL PASIEN KONJUNGTIVITIS DI PUSKESMAS MAKRAYU PALEMBANG TAHUN 2024

Puspita, Ratu Prima - Personal Name;

Conjunctivitis is the most common eye inflammation disease worldwide and is frequently encountered in primary healthcare facilities, including community health centers. Conjunctivitis can occur in individuals of all ages and genders. Although often considered a mild condition, conjunctivitis can lead to serious complications if not managed properly; therefore, appropriate treatment according to the cause and severity of the condition is required. Based on the 2024 periodic report from the Palembang City Health Office, Makrayu Community Health Center recorded the highest number of conjunctivitis cases among all health centers, with a total of 646 cases. This finding highlights the need for a study to identify the profile of conjunctivitis patients at Makrayu Community Health Center, Palembang, in 2024. This study employed a descriptive observational method using secondary data from the Medical Records Department of Makrayu Community Health Center, Palembang. Using a consecutive sampling technique, data from 179 conjunctivitis patients were analyzed. The study found that most conjunctivitis patients were aged 46 – 65 years (29.1%), female (58.1%), and had other etiological categories (72.1%), with unidentified eye complaint locations (78.8%). The most common clinical symptom was red eye (68.2%), the most frequent clinical sign was conjunctival injection (68.2%), and the primary treatment administered was topical antibiotics (44.7%). In conclusion, conjunctivitis cases at Makrayu Community Health Center, Palembang, in 2024 were most prevalent among females aged 46 – 65 years, with other etiologies, with unidentified eye complaint locations, the main symptom of red eye, the clinical sign of conjunctival injection, and topical antibiotics as the main treatment. These findings are expected to serve as a basis for improving disease identification, supporting diagnostic accuracy, ensuring appropriate management, and preventing infection transmission and potential complications.
