HUBUNGAN AKTIVITAS FISIK DENGAN KUALITAS TIDUR MAHASISWA PROGRAM STUDI KEPERAWATAN UNIVERSITAS SRIWIJAYA
Sleep quality is a crucial indicator in determining physical and mental health, especially for students who frequently experience academic pressure and changes in daily activity patterns. Physical activity is one factor that can influence sleep quality. Regular and consistent physical activity plays a crucial role in maintaining bodily functions, reducing stress, and improving sleep quality. The objective of this study is to disclose the relationship between physical activity and sleep quality in college students. This study used a quantitative method with a cross-sectional design. The sample of the study consisted of 78 student respondents selected using a probability sampling technique through a proportionate stratified random sampling approach. The data collection was carried out using the International Physical Activity Questionnaire-Short Form (IPAQ-SF) questionnaire to measure physical activity and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) to measure sleep quality. The data analysis was performed using the Chi-Square statistical test with a significance level (a = 0.05). The results of the analysis revealed that the majority of the respondents had moderate physical activity (47.4%) and poor sleep quality (67.9%). The Chi-Square test results yielded a p-value of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating a significant relationship between physical activity and sleep quality in the students. Regular physical activity can improve sleep quality, while excessive or irregular physical activity can actually decrease it. The results of this study are expected to serve as a reference for students and educational institutions to raise awareness of the importance of physical activity in maintaining sleep quality and overall health.
