PEMBERIAN POSISI QUARTER PRONE UNTUK MENINGKATKAN SATURASI OKSIGEN PADA BAYI RDS (RESPIRATORY DISTRESS SYNDROME) DENGAN MASALAH KEPERAWATAN POLA NAPAS TIDAK EFEKTIF

Kusuma, Popy Dwi - Personal Name;

Introduction: Respiratory Distress Syndrome is an acute lung disease caused by surfactant deficiency in the body of a baby with a short gestation period. The symptoms of RDS include shortness of breath, respiratory rate > 60 times per minute, and decreased oxygen saturation. Oxygen saturation is an indicator that shows the baby's oxygen adequacy. Low oxygen saturation values can indicate a lack of oxygen binding to hemoglobin. Therefore, babies must receive oxygenation assistance using mechanical ventilation/CPAP and the Quarter Prone position. Method: The method used was qualitative research with a case study approach carried out on 3 patients with Respiratory Distress Syndrome who had the main nursing problem of ineffective breathing patterns and were given the quarter prone position for 60 minutes over 3 days. Results: During the quarter prone position within 3 days of intervention, the patient's ineffective breathing pattern showed improvement according to the desired outcome criteria, where the oxygenation status, especially the oxygen saturation of the three patients, increased. Discussion: The Quarter Prone position is recommended for premature babies with RDS because it can stabilize oxygenation status. Apart from that, the Quarter Prone position has a positive impact on physiological status because it can improve cardio-respiratory function and oxygen saturation in RDS babies who use CPAP breathing aids.
