PENGARUH MATERNAL SEPARATION TERHADAP FUNGSI KOGNITIF MEMORI SPASIAL PADA MENCIT PUTIH (MUS MUSCULUS L.) GALUR SWISS WEBSTER JANTAN REMAJA
Maternal separation (MS) is a model of early life stress frequently used to study its impact on brain development and behavior. The separation of offspring from their mother during the early postnatal period can trigger prolonged stress which potentially affects cognitive function and neuroplasticity. This study aimed to analyze the effect of MS on spatial memory in juvenile male Swiss Webster mice (Mus musculus L.). This research employed an experimental method with a posttest-only control group design. A total of 32 mice were randomly divided into two groups: a control group and an MS group that received the maternal Separation procedure for a duration of 4 hours per day for 21 days. Spatial memory function was assessed using the Y-maze test. Data analysis was performed using the independent t-test and paired t-test, as well as the wilcoxon and mann–whitney tests. The results showed significant differences (p < 0.05) between the control and MS groups at both the juvenile and adolescent stages. These findings indicate that prolonged maternal separation-induced stress can negatively affect cognitive function, leading to spatial memory impairment. his study elaborates on the effect of early life stress on spatial memory function and the underlying neurobiological mechanisms.
