HUBUNGAN INDEKS MASSA TUBUH DENGAN KEJADIAN KOLELITIASIS DI RSUP DR MOHAMMAD HOESIN PALEMBANG PERIODE 2024
Background: Cholelithiasis is the formation of stones in the gallbladder. This disease is one of the most common diseases of the human digestive system, particularly in adults. Adult women with a high BMI are most commonly affected by cholelithiasis. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between body mass index (BMI) and the incidence of cholelithiasis at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin General Hospital, Palembang. Methods: This observational analytical study used a cross-sectional approach with a sample of 97 digestive surgery patients undergoing abdominal, upper abdominal, and hepatobiliary ultrasound procedures. The sample was collected using a total sampling technique. The data were then processed univariately and bivariately using the chi-square test with IBM SPSS 27.0. Result: The majority of cholelithiasis cases were aged ≥40 years (93.8%), female (73.4%), had a BMI 0.05). Discussion: Age and gender were found to be significant risk factors when viewed from the distribution. This is related to decreased enzyme levels and hormonal influences in women. Furthermore, BMI is still considered clinically relevant as a risk factor for cholelithiasis. Summary: In this study, no significant relationship was found between BMI and cholelithiasis. Keywords: Cholelithiasis, Body Mass Index (BMI), gallstones, lipid profile.
