Background: Functional dyspepsia is a gastroduodenal complaint not caused by any organic disorder. The occurrence of functional dyspepsia is often associated with anxiety. Compared to older adults, anxiety is more commonly found in younger individuals, such as university students. This study aimed to determine the association between functional dyspepsia symptoms and anxiety among medical students at the Faculty of Medicine, Sriwijaya University. Methods: This study used a quantitative observational cross-sectional design with consecutive sampling. The questionnaires used were the Rome IV criteria for functional dyspepsia symptoms and the Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 (GAD-7) for anxiety assessment. Data were analyzed using the chi-square test. Results: The results showed that 18 out of 85 respondents experienced symptoms of functional dyspepsia. Regarding anxiety, 34 respondents (40%) had mild anxiety, 10 respondents (11,8%) had moderate anxiety, and 3 respondents (3,5%) had severe anxiety. Conclusion: The analysis showed a p-value of 0,104 with α = 0,05 (p > α), indicating that there was no significant association between functional dyspepsia symptoms and anxiety.
