HUBUNGAN KONSUMSI SUPLEMEN VITAMIN D DENGAN STATUS VITAMIN D PADA RESIDEN ANESTESI DI RS MOHAMMAD HOESIN PALEMBANG

Salsabila, Putri - Personal Name;

Background. Vitamin D plays a vital role in calcium and phosphate metabolism, as well as immune and neuromuscular function. Deficiency remains a global health concern, including among healthcare professionals. Anesthesiology residents are particularly vulnerable due to prolonged indoor work and limited sunlight exposure. Vitamin D supplementation is one strategy to prevent deficiency. Therefore, this study aims to assess the relationship between vitamin D supplement intake and serum vitamin D status among anesthesiology residents at Mohammad Hoesin Hospital, Palembang. Methods. This analytical observational study used a cross-sectional design. Secondary data were collected from 38 residents with complete records on supplement intake and serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D [25(OH)D] levels. Data were analyzed descriptively and inferentially using the Chi-Square and Mann-Whitney U tests. Results. Of the 38 participants, only 18.4% reported taking vitamin D supplements. Among supplement users, the most common dosage was 5,000 IU per day (42,9%), typically consumed for 1 to 6 months (100%). The relationship between supplement intake and vitamin D status was not statistically significant (p = 0.427). Similarly, the difference in serum 25(OH)D levels between groups was not significant (p = 0.137). Conclusion. No statistically significant association was found between vitamin D supplement intake and serum vitamin D status among anesthesiology residents at Mohammad Hoesin Hospital, Palembang.
