Background: Lung tumors are abnormal growth and proliferation of cells within the lungs, which may be benign or malignant (cancer). Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer-related mortality worldwide and continues to show an increasing trend in incidence, including in Indonesia. Surgical interventions, both for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes can be performed through thoracotomy or Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery (VATS) with the use of VATS increasing due to its advantages compared to thoracotomy. This study aims to describe the profile of patients with lung tumors undergoing surgical intervention through thoracotomy and VATS at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin General Hospital Palembang.
