PENERAPAN TERAPI KOMBINASI SLOW DEEP BREATHING DAN AROMATHERAPY LAVENDER PADA PASIEN CA MAMMAE DENGAN MASALAH KEPERAWATAN NYERI AKUT POST MASTEKTOMI
Background: Patients with Carcinoma Mamae (Ca Mamae) who undergo mastectomy often experience acute post-operative pain due to tissue damage and an inflammatory response. Unoptimally managed pain can hinder the healing process, reduce sleep quality, and trigger physiological and emotional stress. Non-pharmacological therapies such as slow deep breathing and lavender aromatherapy have been shown to be effective inreducing pain intensity through relaxation mechanisms and stimulation of endorphin release. The combination of these two therapies is expected to provide a synergistic effect in reducing acute pain and increasing patient comfort. Purpose: Implementing nursing care with a combination of slow deep breathing and lavender aromatherapy interventions to overcome acute pain in post-mastectomy Ca Mamae patients. Method: This writing used a descriptive case study method for three post-mastectomy Ca Mamae patients withacute pain nursing problems. The combination intervention was carried out fo three consecutive days for ± 15 minutes each session. Results: All patients showed a decreasein pain intensity after being given combination therapy. The first patient experienced adecrease in pain scale from 7 to 3, the second patient from 7 to 2,and the third patientfrom 5 to 2. In addition, patients reported increased comfort, better sleep, and reduced muscle tension after therapy. Discussion: The combination of slow deep breathing and lavender aromatherapy works through stimulation of the parasympathetic system, increasing muscle relaxation, decreasing sympathetic nerve activity, and activating thelimbic system for the release of endorphins. This synergistic effect results in decreasedpain perception and increased patient comfort postoperatively. Conclusion: Therapy ofthe combination of slow deep breathing and lavender aromatherapy is effective inreducing acute pain intensity in post-mastectomy Ca Mamae patients.
