HUBUNGAN DERAJAT OBESITAS DENGAN INDEKS RASIO KARDIOTORAKS DI BALAI BESAR LABORATORIUM KESEHATAN MASYARAKAT PALEMBANG PERIODE JUNI 2024 – DESEMBER 2024
Background: Obesity is a global health problem that continues to rise each year and can lead to various complications, including cardiovascular disease. One manifestation of cardiovascular disease is cardiomegaly, which can be assessed using the cardiothoracic ratio index (CTR) on chest radiographs. This study was conducted to analyze the relationship between obesity degree and cardiothoracic ratio index among patients at the Palembang Public Health Laboratory Center during the period of June to December 2024. Methods: This was an observational analytic study with a cross-sectional design. Secondary data were obtained from medical records of obese patients who underwent chest radiographs at the Palembang Public Health Laboratory Center from June to December 2024, according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. The samples were taken using a stratified proportional random sampling technique. Data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) through univariate and bivariate analyses. Results: Of the 91 samples, the majority were male (73,6%) and aged 35–44 years (31,9%). Most patients were in the obesity I category (67,0%) and did not present with cardiomegaly (79,1%). Bivariate analysis showed a significant association between obesity degree and the cardiothoracic ratio (p = 0,002). Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between obesity degree and the cardiothoracic ratio index among patients at the Palembang Public Health Laboratory Center during the period of June to December 2024.
