Rosa, Dinda Fita - Personal Name;

Background: Elderly people are a group of people who have entered the final stage of life. In the elderly, physical, mental and social decline will generally occur. One example of physical decline in the elderly is that the elderly are susceptible to disease. Hypertension is a disease that is most commonly suffered by the elderly. Uncontrolled hypertension can cause complications such as heart failure, stroke, metabolic syndrome and even death. One effort that can be made to control blood pressure in hypertensive elderly people is by providing a combination of warm water foot soak therapy and acupressure therapy. Objective: To disclose the effect of a combination of warm water foot soak therapy therapy and and acupressure therapy therapy on reducing blood pressure in elderly people with hypertension. Method: The method used is descripitive qualitative with a case study approach on 3 elderly people with hypertension. Results: The results of the assessment showed that the main nursing problem was ineffective peripheral perfusion. The intervention given was a combination of warm water foot soak therapy and acupressure therapy to reduce blood pressure in elderly people with hypertension. Average blood pressure before intervention was given to Mrs. R was 175/107.3 mmHg, Mr. R 212/109.3 mmHg and Mrs. K 203.6/108.3 mmHg. After being given the intervention, there was a decrease in blood pressure of Mrs. R 159/103.3 mmHg, Mr. R 195.3/96.3 mmHg and Mrs. K 195.3/96.3 mmHg. Discussion: The combination of warm water foot soaks and acupressure therapy impacts body temperature, stimulates superficial skin nerves, and promotes endorphin release, which reduces sympathetic nerve activity and enhances parasympathetic function. This leads to vasodilation in the blood vessel walls, promoting smoother blood circulation and a calming, comforting effect, ultimately lowering blood pressure in elderly individuals with hypertension. Conclusion: The warm water foot soak therapy and acupressure therapy can be used as combination non pharmacological therapy to reduce blood pressure in elderly people with hypertension.
