ANALISIS PENCEMARAN LOGAM BERAT TEMBAGA DALAM SEDIMEN DI SUNGAI GASING BERDASARKAN INDEKS GEOAKUMULASI
Heavy metal copper (Cu) in the sediment of Gasing River, Banyuasin, South Sumatra has been studied. The research aims to determine the distribution of copper (Cu) metal and determine the level of copper (Cu) metal pollution in sediments based on the geoaccumulation index. The research began with sediment sampling at six locations in the upstream to downstream of the Gasing River. Sediment samples were taken using the composite sampling method and the concentration of Cu metal was determined using the flame system Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (SSA) method at the 324.7 nm resonance line. The results showed that the concentration of Cu metal in sediments in the Gasing River ranged from 11.34 - 15.6 mg/Kg. The concentration of Cu metal is below the quality standard set by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (US-EPA). States Environmental Protection Agency (US-EPA) which is 49.98 mg/Kg. Average value of Cu metal geoaccumulation index in Gasing River sediment is 1.328. Based on the sediment classification class, the average Cu metal geoaccumulation index value in the Gasing River sediment is in class 2. This indicates that the Gasing River sediment is moderately polluted by the metal. Gasing River sediments are medium polluted by copper (Cu) metal.
