ANALISIS TEGANGAN TEMBUS PADA CAMPURAN JATROPHA OIL DAN COTTON SEED OIL SEBAGAI ISOLATOR PADA TRANSFORMATOR

This research aims to analyze the breakdown voltage of a mixture of Jatropha Oil and Cotton Seed Oil as an alternative insulating fluid for transformers. The study investigates the effect of different mixing ratios on the dielectric characteristics of the oil and determines the optimum composition with the highest breakdown voltage. The testing procedure followed the IEC-60156 standard using a sphere-to-sphere electrode system with a 2,5 mm gap distance. Prior to testing, the Cotton Seed Oil was thermally treated using a oven for 240 minutes to reduce moisture content. The results show that blending both oils increases the breakdown voltage compared to each oil used individually. The highest value was obtained at a 30% Jatropha Oil and 70% Cotton Seed Oil ratio, reaching 57.6 kV, indicating a synergistic effect between the two oils. If compared with previous research (ICONSTEM, 2019), which used a Jatropha Oil – Silk Cotton Oil of Ethyl Ester (80:20) mixture, this study demonstrated that the Jatropha Oil Cotton Seed Oil blend provides higher dielectric performance. Therefore, this mixture of vegetable oils has the potential to serve as an environmentally friendly alternative to conventional transformer oil for low to medium voltage applications.
