DETERMINAN STATUS GIZI LEBIH PADA MAHASISWA DI UNIVERSITAS SRIWIJAYA TAHUN 2024

Kurniawati, Ayu  - Personal Name;

The increasing prevalence of overweight in individuals aged >18 years in South Sumatra requires immediate attention to 15.9% and 25,39% in 2013 until 2018. Overweight can increase the risk of some chronic diseases. Students are the age group from late teens to young adults where in this phase nutritional status is very important to pay attention. The purpose of this study was to determine the determinants of overweight among students at Sriwijaya University in 2024. Analytical observational research uses quantitative methods with a cross sectional approach. The sample used was Active Students from the Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences and Faculty of Law, Sriwijaya University in 2024, a total of 101 respondents were selected using Cluster Random Sampling. The results of statistical tests showed that 15.8% of students who were at risk had overweight and 84.2% of students who were not at risk had overweight. The results of this study indicate that there is a relationship between sleep duration (p-value=0.002) with the nutritional status. However, there is no relationship between diet (p-value=0.685), screen-time (p-value=0.181), sedentary activity (p-value=0.110) and perceived stress (p-value=0.465;0,814) with the nutritional status. to students at Sriwijaya University. It can be concluded that sleep duration is a variable that influences the nutritional status of students. It is recommended that students manage their time as best as possible by making a schedule regarding activities that will be carried out in one day and limiting the use of social media so that assignments can be completed according to schedule.
