HUBUNGAN KARAKTERISTIK PASIEN DENGAN KUALITAS HIDUP PASKA REKONSTRUKSI FRAKTUR KRANIOMAKSILOFASIAL DI RSUP Dr. MOHAMMAD HOESIN PALEMBANG PERIODE 2023–2024

Dhynna, Radia Putri - Personal Name;

Background: Craniomaxillofacial fractures are among the most common trauma cases found in emergency departments, often leading to functional, aesthetic, and psychological impairments. These conditions can significantly affect the patient’s quality of life even after reconstructive surgery. However, studies examining the relationship between patient characteristics and post-reconstruction quality of life in Indonesia remain limited. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the relationship between patient characteristics (age, gender, fracture location, and associated trauma) and the quality of life of patients after craniomaxillofacial fracture reconstruction at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin General Hospital, Palembang, during the 2023–2024 period. Methods: This research employed an analytical observational design with a cross-sectional approach. Data were collected from patients who had undergone craniomaxillofacial reconstruction and met the inclusion criteria. The WHOQOL-BREF questionnaire (Indonesian version), which has been validated and proven reliable, was used to assess quality of life. Data were analyzed using bivariate tests to evaluate the relationship between patient characteristics and WHOQOL-BREF scores. Results: Most respondents were male, within the productive age range, and experienced midfacial fractures, with some presenting concomitant injuries. The average WHOQOL-BREF scores indicated that patients generally had a moderate to good quality of life across all four domains (physical, psychological, social, and environmental). Statistical analysis revealed no significant relationship between age, gender, fracture location, or associated trauma and quality of life scores (p > 0.05). Conclusion: There was no significant association between patient characteristics and quality of life following craniomaxillofacial fracture reconstruction. These findings suggest that psychosocial and individual adaptive factors may have a greater influence on post reconstruction quality of life than demographic or anatomical factors. Keywords: Craniomaxillofacial fracture, quality of life, facial reconstruction, WHOQOL-BREF.
