PENGARUH PENAMBAHAN FILLER ALUMINUM OXIDE (Al₂O₃) TERHADAP KARAKTERISTIK PARTIAL DISCHARGE DAN BREAKDOWN VOLTAGE PADA MATERIAL ISOLASI SILICONE RUBBER (SiR)
This study reports the effect of aluminum oxide (Al₂O₃) filler on silicone rubber (SiR) insulation regarding of the partial discharge and breakdown voltage characteristics for several filler variations. The evaluated parameters include Partial Discharge Inception Voltage (PDIV), partial discharge patterns, and Breakdown Voltage (BDV) of SiR. The discharge measurement was conducted using a needle–plane electrode configuration with a 1 mm air gap between the needle tip and the sample. High-voltage AC at 50 Hz was applied with a voltage rise rate of 100 V/s. Partial discharge data were recorded for 50 seconds at voltage levels of 1.1, 1.2, and 1.3 towards the average PDIV value. The experimental results indicate that the addition of Al₂O₃ filler can enhance the dielectric strength of SiR insulation. The optimal PDIV value was obtained at 1 wt% Al₂O₃, reaching 2,6 kV, with a minimum partial discharge occurrence of 583 pulses at 1.1 × PDIV, corresponding to a probability of 23,32%. The average breakdown voltage achieved at this filler concentration was 18,9 kV. These results demonstrate that the addition of 1 wt% Al₂O₃ is the most effective concentration for improving the insulation performance of silicone rubber.
